Opened in 1932 together with the Kamimiyori ~ Yunokami section of the Aizu Line, built by the Yokogawa Bridge Manufacturing Co. (now Yokogawa Bridge). Due to the increase in the level of the Okawa River after the construction of the Okawa Dam, the original bridge was replaced by the current bridge in 1980. The original bridge was a single track bridge, made up of one Warren truss section and four plate girder sections. The current bridge was innovative, in that it was built with weather-resistant steel that does not require painting.
この横河橋梁製作所（現：横河ブリッジ）製の鉄橋はは湯野上駅から会津田島駅までの線路と一緒に開かれた。大川ダムの建設の後での水位の増加の結果として元の橋は現在の橋に１９８０年で置き換えられた。元の橋は一つワーレントラス節と四つプレートガーダー節があるの単線の橋梁であった。現在の橋は塗装は必要無い耐候性鋼で作られた。
