Timeline - タイムライン

  1932.12.22 - opened together with the Kamimiyori ~ Yunokami section of the Aizu Line. 駅は上三寄駅から湯野上駅までの路線部分と一緒に開かれた。
  1971.8.29 - ticket window closed; only operations personnel assigned. チケット販売は打ち切られた、運用担当者だけが雇用された。
  1980.12.1 - original station closed due to Ōkawa Dam construction; replacement (still called Kuwabara Station) built on new line. 大川ダムの建設おかげで元の駅は廃止された。「桑原駅」という置換駅は新しい線路に開かれた。
  1987.7.16 - Aizu Line taken over by third-sector operator Aizu Railway; station renamed Ashinomaki Onsen Minami Station. 会津線は第三セクターの会津鉄道に受け継がれた；駅は「芦ノ牧温泉南駅」に改称された。

Description - 解説

Kuwabara was a village of about 14 houses, and the old route of NH121 passed through here. NH121 had been a prefectural road until being upgraded to 2nd Class National Highway 121 in 1952.

Single track with one side platform and a siding; water tower for steam locomotives.

The main station building was at the bottom of the hill (west of the track), with stairs leading up from the station building to the platform. A section house and another railway building were also located here.

桑原は国道１２１号の旧進路での約十四戸家があるの村であった。国道１２１号は１９５２年まで県道であった、その年に二等国道になった。

元の駅は単ホームと側線の一本があるの単線駅であった。蒸気機関車のために給水塔もがあった。

駅の本館は丘の底にて（線路の西側で）であった、駅舎からホームへ階段があった。二軒の鉄道官舎もがあった。

On 3 January 1967, train 328 bound for Aizu-Wakamatsu was photographed at Kuwabara with C11 64 at the head.

会津線に走っての全てのローカル列車はこの駅で止まった。

１９６７年１月３日で会津若松へ行くの３２８レは桑原駅で撮影された、C１１６４号機は列車を牽引した。

Freight Services - 貨物の勤め

Although there was no freight service at this station (aside from parcel service handled from passenger trains), all downbound freight trains made a scheduled stop here to take water on (the October 1968 freight timetable did not show this as a scheduled stop, but the 1971 issue did). Upwards trains coming down the long slope from Yunokami didn't stop here.

旅客列車での小包サービスを除いてこの駅で貨物の勤めがなかった。しかしながら、下り列車の全ては水で満たすためにここで計画された停止した。湯野上からの下り坂走って列車はここで止まらなかった。
